Demystifying the Submission Process: A Crash Course on Literary Journal Submitting & Publishing
Teacher: Gabrielle Bates
Date: Saturday, December 4, 2021
Time: 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
Description: In this class, we'll walk through the typical poetry submission process from start to finish, discussing best practices, common errors, and strategies for staying organized, as well as which journals and magazines might be a good fit for particular aesthetics. The class is designed to give attendees basic exposure to common interfaces and resources, such as Submittable and Duotrope, as well as guidance for composing cover letters and bios, with the goal of empowering poets of all experience levels to submit their work with more know-how and, hopefully, less anxiety. The final half hour of the class will be reserved for fielding specific, lingering questions from students.
Format: Online via Zoom
Accessibility: This class will be conducted in spoken English and may include audiovisual materials such as slides and videos. Please contact us with special accessibility requests. If you have any questions regarding the class, please email us at email@example.com
