10/14: Afternoon Conversation on Argentinian Literature in Translation

with Carolina Esses and Allison A. deFreese
in The Parlor, 1pm

Join Carolina Esses (Winter Season), a poet, novelist, and literary critic visiting from Buenos Aires, and her translator, Allison A. deFreese, for a causal conversation on contemporary Argentinian literature based on what we have and carry in the store.

We’ll pull translations from our shelves to discuss the relationships and history between the many Argentine writers one finds in small press translations, discuss specific difficulties bringing certain writers into translation, and discuss the current world of Argentinian poetry publishing. Maybe even a bit of literary gossip!
Bring your questions and notebooks, and be ready to learn more about this vital and compelling literature!

Carolina and Allison are in Seattle for the book launch celebration of Winter Season, Carolina’s first full-length collection in English, published by Seattle’s Entre Ríos Books. Thursday, October 12, at Folio.
