AWP Seattle March 8-12

Dear Friends of Open Books,

We're so excited to have AWP in our neck of the woods this year and can't wait to collaborate with and support all the poets and presses coming through town!

Our new location at 108 Cherry Street is less than a mile away from the convention center and our hope is to offer extended hours (~10am to 10pm) March 8-11 in order to give as many people as possible the opportunity to browse our shelves, connect with friends, and catch a moment of rest in our most comfortable of reading chairs. We're excited to be welcoming so many writers, presses, and lovers of poetry to our shop during that time!

While we do not have the capacity to host any offsite readings during AWP, we would love to offer poets the chance to spend some time in our Parlor, if that appeals! The Parlor is a cozy, light-filled room with a large library table where poets are welcome to host a book signing, a meet and greet, or a small gathering of friends, or to take a break from the hustle and bustle of book tour life and spend a few hours writing in solitude. There's tea, a comfortable reading chair, and a robust assortment of poetry records, cassettes and CDs, among other delights. We would be thrilled to reserve this space for you to use however you'd like! If hosting a small off-site gathering in the Parlor is something you're interested in, let us know (, and we'll get the time reserved on our calendar and discuss any pertinent promotional materials closer to the time of AWP.

Additionally, if you're looking for a venue to host a reading, here are the names of a few businesses we're fortune enough to share a building with. We'd be happy to collaborate on a book signing in our Parlor following an event at any of these locations.
