Urgent Fundraising for The Sameer Project

In light of the urgent appeals coming out in great numbers about the horrific conditions in Gaza due to Israel's escalating campaign of starvation & ethnic cleansing, we are encouraging all friends and followers of Open Books to take the following actions:

1. Contribute to The Sameer Project. We've created this page to make contributing easy. Open Books will match the first $1,000 in donations that come through this page. We'd love to raise at least $10,000 by the end of the month.
   
   UPDATE July 23: Thanks to your generous contributions we've met the $10k goal within days of initiating this campaign. We're going to keep this fundraising page active and front-and-center on our homepage, so please continue to share with anyone you know. We will continue to send all funds collected through the page to The Sameer Project, whose members are doing life-saving work while facing unimaginable hardships. 
    
2. Send individualized messages to your friends, colleagues, and family to do the same.
    
3. Implore people in your extended networks to contribute what they can financially to support The Sameer Project and other trusted mutual aid efforts.
